Discover Saint Saturnin lès Apt, a pretty village in the Vaucluse
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is located 9 kilometers north of Apt, clinging to a rocky outcrop overlooking the plain.
This hilltop village in the Luberon is home to 17th-century windmills, the remains of a medieval castle, and an 11th-century castle chapel.
The commune covers 7,579 hectares in the Luberon Regional Nature Park, between the Vaucluse mountains to the north and the Luberon massif to the south. Here you will find medieval ramparts, carved gates classified as Historic Monuments, and a fascinating rural heritage with its water troughs carved into the rock.
A charming old town center
Despite the recent villas surrounding this agricultural village, Saint Saturnin is steeped in history and well worth a visit. As you stroll through the narrow streets of its town center, you will discover beautiful old houses, sculpted porches, and delicately crafted doors and window frames.
Ramparts and fortified walls
In the rampart district, you will discover that of the three fortified walls built in the 13th, 14th, and 16th centuries, only the Ayguier gate remains. You will love visiting this medieval village!
Truffles, cherries, and hiking
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is the birthplace of French truffle farming, thanks to Joseph Talon, who planted the first truffle oaks in the 19th century.
The village has a market on Tuesday mornings, hiking trails through the scrubland, and an exceptional panoramic view from the castle ruins. All around the village, magnificent landscapes invite you to take long walks... don't forget that you are in the Luberon Regional Nature Park. There are many activities to enjoy (truffle hunting, cherry picking, hiking, biking, wine tasting, etc.).
